Menu Plan Monday ~ December 7th

hello!  It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a menu and I can tell!  That feeling of knowing there is food here to make something, but not knowing what, is a horrible one.
So here we go…a menu for the week of my BIRTHDAY!  That means there will be CAKE!

Lunches (M-F)

ham & cheese wraps, spinach salad, pineapple
pizza [...]

Menu Plan Monday: October 26

I bought a new cook book today.  It is a crock pot cook book and I’m anxious to try some new recipes.  I’ve been on a Christmas planning kick ever since ordering Christmas cards a couple weeks ago. One area I struggle with is serving food to company for several days.  I plan ahead but [...]

Menu Plan Monday: October 19

Another Monday…another menu.  I am still loosely using the 6 week menu I put together a couple of weeks ago and it has helped a lot.  Now I’m stocking up on sales and only really needing to buy produce and dairy products.
Monday:

Cereal, milk & OJ
Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, bread & butter
Pork roast (crock pot), [...]

Tator Tot Hotdish

Monday you may have noticed the tator tot hotdish on my menu.  We had the yummy comfort food for supper that night.  Today Grace had me heat some up and pack it in her lunch.  My daycare children also enjoyed it for lunch yesterday.  We think it is that good.
About ten years ago I stopped [...]

Menu Plan Monday ~ October 5th

Last week I put together a loose 6 week menu plan so I’m excited to enjoy the fruits of my labor.  Here’s the plan for this week.  We have Grace gone for two nights at Volleyball games.  Since she won’t be playing with her sprained wrist we won’t be travelling to see the games.  Then [...]

Venison

My man is an avid hunter.  He bow hunts, rifle hunts and takes in the black powder season here.  He taught gun safety for years and just generally has a love of hunting and fishing.  When we lived in HomeTown he would hunt deer, pheasant, duck, goose and doves.  Now we are a little too [...]

Back to Packing Lunches

The kids are back in school today and that means I’ll be back to packing lunches tomorrow.  We sat down yesterday and talked about what they think they’d like in lunches this year.
Here’s what they said they want:

PBJ sandwiches
Ham or turkey sandwiches or wraps (this is exciting and new…they never really wanted deli meat before)
The [...]

Menu Plan Monday: September 7

While I always have a loose menu plan in my head, my degree of serious menu planning varies.  It seems that summer time is the hardest time of year for me to plan menus.  The structure of the school year is much better for me.
And here we are, the start of school this week.  Oh, [...]

Challenge

Owlhaven put out a challenge to spend less this month.  Her goal is $75 a week for her family of 10 at home.  I’ve seen similar things on other blogs, like Small Notebook’s 30 days of nothing in July.  I am always intrigued.  I love the idea of a challenge.  Maybe because I’m more competitive [...]

Menu Plan Monday: July 27

I’m back from vacation…11 days of no cooking, cleaning or laundry.  It was a wonderful getaway, but I’m ready to be back to the family routine.
Itchy to get in the kitchen, I asked what the family ate in my absence so I wouldn’t repeat anything.  Coming back home after my trip, I stopped at Sam’s [...]
