Making Ice

Making ice is a big deal around here.  As soon as the rifles are cleaned and put away, and the camo clothes have been washed and hung up, the people around here start talking about the weather and how conducive it is to makin’ ice.  At the cafe I have no doubt the small talk has turned to something like “well got cold…makin’ ice at least” when just a couple weeks ago the greeting among locals was ” seein’ anything?”  or “had any luck?” with regards to the deer hunting.

My husband is already excited for ice fishing.  He loves it.  Last night we were in the van and he happily tapped the screen on the dash that read 6 degrees and gave me a thumbs up.  “Makin’ ice” he said.
